Meet Dr. DAN

Dan Georgescu, MD, PhD is an oculofacial plastic surgeon that is double board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) and the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery (ABFCS). He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) and the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). He is the Hon. Secretary of the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS) and a Trustee for the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery.

A graduate of Yale University, Dr Georgescu did his residency at Moran Eye Center in Salt Lake City, a top 5 ophthalmology training program in the country. He then completed a 2-year ASOPRS fellowship at The Center for Facial Appearances with Drs Richard Anderson and John McCann, the most sought-after oculofacial plastic surgery training program in the US, located also in Salt Lake City. In 2010, Dr Dan Georgescu became a clinical professor at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and, later, an Associate Clinical Professor at Nova Southeastern University in South Florida. He is currently in private practice in both Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Bucharest, Romania.

Dr Georgescu has performed over 10,000 eyelid and facial surgical procedures and is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Romanian.

Dr Dan Georgescu is a frequent lecturer at prestigious national and international meetings and a trainer for both live and cadaver courses, where he is invited to teach innovative surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation. His leading research is focused on eyebrow contouring and orbital fat transposition around the eyes at the time of eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) surgery for correcting age-related volume loss.

Dr Georgescu has written 10 book chapters and 40 peer-reviewed publications in the most prestigious journals in the field, such as: Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (OPRS), The Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery, Orbit, The Journal of Neuroscience and Cell.

Since 2007, Dr Georgescu has served in many humanitarian missions in Nepal, India, Cambodia and Romania, where he has treated children with congenital malformations and acquired periocular tumors.

In his spare time, Dr Dan enjoys traveling with his family and discovering new cultures and culinary traditions. Being a former opera choir singer, he also enjoys classical and electronic music concerts and festivals. Dr Dan is also a big outdoors fan, with backcountry and alpine skiing being his favorite sport for the past 40+ years.
